last day, my friend and I was reading an English report which was about every day heroes, who have fostered communities to help people, like charities as most common example. (there were other fascinating activities like providing recreational time for children which should be discussed in an another note)

one of them was an institute which had helped secure land rights for more than 105 million families across 45 countries.

when we reached this sentence my friend touched a good question, why don't we have such guys in our country, Iran?

nowadays we are suffering from vast restrictions and forbidding policies on Internet. the "national internet" term is ridiculous as well, because the government hasn't backed and invested on infrastructures of this network at all. we have access to something like shadow of Internet. in fact, we are disconnected.

how technology has changed our lives? is internet has been just a tool? something that have helped migrated people to keep in touch with their families? to make restaurants able to sell online? in fact, did we have our own lives and activities and internet just made them online? NO, internet redefined us.

imagine you've got sick and need to refer to a doctor, how do you find a doctor? you search about it, and compare them based on patients comments and rates, finally you reserve a visit for the best one. (online or in person) and its true about a mechanic for your broken car or a real state for selling your house (whether Online applications or physical ones).

you search, in fact you investigate. you don't trust the first clinic or mechanic you saw; its critical thinking.

now think about a society in which all people consider their choices critically, probably inside this society mostly competent doctors will become famous, skillful mechanics will get busy thus humans and cars will have better mode!

actually, investigation hasn't been impossible before the internet, but its been hard (because information had been sparse) and finally its not been a common trait in the society. internet has made people think critically, just by accelerating access to Information.

if a government bans this access, its not damaging accessibility, its killing critical thinking in it's society.

culture of collaboration

one of the most beneficial cultures that promoted by the proliferation of Internet, is Open-source culture. when you come up with an machine learning model, you put it in your GitHub for free. other people use your model, report bugs and recommend you improvements. more people have more ideas.

how chat-GPT, this mind boggling engineering super-project is made? by collaboration of thousands of researchers across tens of countries during decades. each researcher shared his or her own work, and someone else continued it.

when do you start stupid ideas? when you ensure someone pay attention to it and you won't remain alone!

when a government bans the internet, its killing teamwork, collaboration, some dreams and again some dreams.

tools transform cultures, if you wanna ban tools, first look at cultures.
